Our Wood

We work almost exclusively with full tree‑width kiln‑dried oak (Pippy, Tiger, Character), handpicked from a local sawmill for its grain, movement, tone, and integrity.

Each board is chosen in person, selected specifically for what it will
become.

Working with oak in its natural form means we follow the wood rather than force it. We keep the character intact, minimise waste, and let the grain guide the proportions, edges, and final feel of each piece. 

Craft

Ryan takes each piece through the full making process: debarking live edge by hand,cutting and truing the boards, shaping profiles by hand one pass at a time, and refining the surface through several grades for a smooth, tactile feel. He’s a fan of vintage hand tools, using them whenever he can — tools with weight, history, and a feel that connects directly to the timber. 

Finish

We use British‑manufactured hard wax oils applied in thin coats, followed by a traditional beeswax polish that gives the wood a warm, natural, honest finish. 

Our craft is steady and intentional — a countryside‑workshop rhythm built on patience, respect for materials, and the belief that good work takes time.

Every piece leaves the workshop with a clear purpose, shaped for real homes and real living.
