This Tiger Oak board is crafted from one solid piece of quarter‑sawn oak, chosen for its bold tiger‑stripe figuring and expressive grain. The corners are curved by hand and the straight‑cut edges are softened to create a clean, modern profile that feels premium to the touch. The integrated handle is sculpted directly from the same board, giving the piece strength, comfort and a seamless, uninterrupted design.
Finished with a warm, food‑safe hardwax oil, the board highlights the depth of the grain while keeping a natural, tactile surface. Designed for charcuterie, cheese, grazing spreads, centre‑table serving, chef plating and menu photography, it’s a statement piece that works beautifully in homes, restaurants, hotels and gastro pubs.
The Wood
This board is crafted from one full‑width piece of locally sourced Tiger Oak, selected directly from nearby sawmills for its stability, straightness and expressive tiger‑stripe figuring. We buy full‑width boards, not narrow stock, so every piece is made from a single, uninterrupted section of timber — no laminations, no glue‑ups, just solid quarter‑sawn oak.
The wood is kiln‑dried for long‑term stability, helping the board remain true and balanced during use.
Quarter‑sawing reveals the medullary rays that create the distinctive striping, giving each board its own natural pattern and movement.
Craftmanship and Making
Each board is shaped entirely by hand, beginning with the curved corners and softened straight‑cut edges that give the piece its smooth, modern profile. The integrated handle is sculpted directly from the same solid board, refined slowly for comfort, balance and a seamless feel. Raised Tiger Oak legs are fitted on the long boards and levelled individually, lifting the board from the surface to create height and presence for serving and presentation.
The surface is refined through multiple sanding grits, moving gradually from coarse shaping to fine finishing. This multi‑stage process creates a smooth, tactile feel that highlights the depth of the Tiger Oak grain — a finish that single‑stage machine sanding cannot achieve.
The Finish
The board is finished with food‑safe hardwax oil, chosen for its balance of protection and natural feel. It enhances the depth of the Tiger Oak grain while keeping a warm, tactile surface that still feels like real wood — never glossy or plasticised. The finish settles gently into the grain and medullary rays, bringing out the natural movement within the timber.
Each coat is applied and buffed by hand for an even, consistent finish that complements the board’s sculpted edges, curved corners and raised legs.
Dimensions and Options
Each board is made from a single full‑width, kiln‑dried piece of Tiger Oak and includes raised solid‑oak legs as standard for the long boards.
The wood thickness is approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch), giving the board a substantial, balanced feel without being too heavy.
All measurements refer to the main board surface only — the length does not include the integrated handle, which is shaped directly from the same solid piece of timber.
The integrated handle provides comfortable grip and easy movement between kitchen, table and serving areas.

This board is available with an optional Lazy Susan mechanism, which can be placed ontop of the long board for smooth, balanced rotation. The bearing is discreet, stable and designed to complement the solid Tiger Oak construction, making it ideal for centre‑table serving, sharing dishes and food‑styling presentation.
The Long Board also has the option of additing on a matching sqaure board.
