A solid square Tiger Oak board showcasing natural tiger‑stripe figuring, curved corners and softened edges for a smooth, modern profile. The integrated handle is sculpted from the same full‑width board, and the food‑safe hardwax oil finish brings out the depth of the grain. Ideal for charcuterie, cheese, grazing spreads, kitchen display and professional food styling, with a Lazy Susan upgrade option.
The Wood
This board is crafted from one full‑width piece of locally sourced Tiger Oak, selected from nearby sawmills for its stability, straightness and expressive tiger‑stripe figuring.
We buy full‑width boards, not narrow stock, so every piece is made from a single, uninterrupted section of timber — no laminations, no glue‑ups, just solid quarter‑sawn oak.
The wood is kiln‑dried for long‑term stability, helping the board remain true and balanced during use. Quarter‑sawing reveals the medullary rays that create the distinctive striping, giving each board its own natural pattern and movement.
The Process
Each board is shaped entirely by hand, beginning with the curved corners and softened straight‑cut edges that give the piece its smooth, modern profile. The integrated handle is sculpted directly from the same solid board, refined slowly for comfort, balance and a seamless feel.
The surface is refined through multiple sanding grits, moving gradually from coarse shaping to fine finishing. This multi‑stage process creates a smooth, tactile feel that highlights the depth of the Tiger Oak grain — a finish that single‑stage machine sanding cannot achieve.
Dimensions and Options
Each board is made from a single full‑width, kiln‑dried piece of Tiger Oak and includes raised solid‑oak legs as part of the design. The dimensions are fixed and consistent, cut directly from full‑width boards so every piece follows the same proportions and layout.
The wood thickness is approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch), giving the board a substantial, balanced feel without being heavy. All measurements refer to the main board surface only — the length does not include the integrated handle, which is shaped directly from the same solid piece of timber.
The integrated handle provides comfortable grip and easy movement between kitchen, table and serving areas. If you need something slightly different — a specific size, a particular feel or a board to complement another piece — small adjustments may be possible.
This board is available with an optional Lazy Susan mechanism, which can be placed neatly beneath the piece for smooth, balanced rotation. The bearing is discreet, stable and designed to complement the solid Tiger Oak construction, making it ideal for centre‑table serving, sharing dishes and food‑styling presentation.
The Finish
The board is finished with food‑safe hardwax oil, chosen for its balance of protection and natural feel. It enhances the depth of the Tiger Oak grain while keeping a warm, tactile surface that still feels like real wood — never glossy or plasticised. The finish settles gently into the grain and medullary rays, bringing out the natural movement within the timber.
Each coat is applied and buffed by hand for an even, consistent finish that complements the board’s sculpted edges and curved corners.
